Please click on the link below for the information flier as well as entry form. The deadline for t-shirts has passed, but it’s not too late to register and support a great cause. We hope to see you all there for a little exercise, great food, and best of all… prizes!
The weather has made a turn for the better here in Salt Lake City. We are lovin’ this weather! We have filled up two, yes two, dumpsters full of yard trimmings and a third is on its way for this weekend. On Sunday, we took a break and took the motor home out for a little spin. We went to Sugar House Park and it was packed! I guess we weren’t the only ones with the idea. The kids enjoyed playing at the park and I enjoyed the great weather. It’s was a perfect day! The blossoms are blooming. Hope your spring as a great as ours!
We are at it again…trying to raise some money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. There are many donation options this year that we are really excited about. The first, and the easiest is to go to the CFF website and donate. Click on the picture of Julia below to get to the website.
The second, is to purchase a Julia’s Warriors t-shirt for $15 from me, Janna Mills. They come in ladies’ and mens’ sizes. Send me a message at jannamills@msn.com and place an order by April 14th. The t-shirt logo was designed by Eric Himle, pictured below.
The third, and most fun, is to participate in our 5K Run/Walk on May 1st from 8:00-11:00. Pre-registration is due by April 14th and is only $20. You get a Julia’s Warriors t-shirt, a chance to win great prizes, breakfast, exercise, and great fun! E-mail me at jannamills@msn.com and I can send you an entry form. Late registration is the day of the event and is only $15, but sadly you don’t get a t-shirt if you register late. This event will be at 1661 Murray Holladay Rd., Holladay, UT 84117, in the building behind the Lion’s Club Recreation Center. Bring your friends, your kids, and anyone who you can convince to support this great cause. I can also order kids’ shirts if you want them as well.
There are many opportunities to donate this year and I hope you can show your support and join Julia’s Warriors today!
We had a very relaxing Easter. We had an egg hunt for the kids inside the house. We didn’t want to do another freezing snow hunt. The kids enjoyed running around the house finding eggs in the couches and in their beds.
We had a nice family dinner with some of my sisters. I made a ham with some funeral potatoes. One challenge was finding the frozen hash browns for the potatoes. Wal-mart was sold out of them and Dan’s only had a couple of bags of the O’brien type. I guess I wasn’t the only one making funeral potatoes for Easter dinner.
We finished the evening off with some Wii Just Dance. We have really enjoyed all of the 80’s dance moves in this game. It’s good exercise and great fun! We hope you all enjoyed your Easter Sunday.
Happy St. Patrick’s day everyone! I’m not one to really get into St. Patrick’s day. When I taught kindergarten, we didn’t do anything special that I can even remember except for maybe wearing green. I guess when you teach in a low income, low performing school, the day is better spent learning letter and numbers. The school my kids attend gets much more elaborate in their St. Patrick’s day activities. Olivia picked out her green clothing for the day, having no clue what was in store for her.
I picked Olivia up from preschool yesterday and was bombarded with all kinds of questions about leprechauns. How did they get into the school? Why did they make a mess in the classroom? How did they get in and out of the school so fast? How did they leave footprints way up on the wall? Etc, etc., etc.
When we got home Olivia made me check her room and other rooms in the house to make sure there were no leprechauns. I answered over two dozen questions about leprechauns yesterday, and when night began to fall, Olivia informed me that she wanted to sleep in my bed. I asked her if it had anything to do with leprechauns, and indeed it did. So, I asked Olivia if she wanted to know the truth about leprechauns…she did.
I explained to Olivia that her teachers were the ones who were pretending to be leprechauns. She said that the teachers were in the library with them when the leprechauns came so it couldn’t be them. I asked if there were any parents in the classroom and of course there were in fact two parents carrying out the “plan.” I told Olivia that Miss Laura and Miss Michelle had it all planned out and that they told the plan to the parents and when the class went to the library, the parents carried out the plan. I showed Olivia how her teachers made the little green footprints all over the school and told her that leprechauns were simply make believe.
So, Olivia now has the “low down” on leprechauns and she slept in her bed last night. Olivia doesn’t like leprechauns. She seemed pretty puzzled by the whole explanation. I do believe that Olivia actually hates leprechauns, because when Austin told her that Jack, our dog, was a leprechaun, she didn’t like that at all.
I love my kids! It’s so great to be their mom. Happy St. Patrick’s day everyone!
